The Road to School.

My first taste of independence. I entered Secondary School and learned to go on my own. Those that I see from the streets were memories that I took home everyday. At that time, the only way to immortalize these thoughts was to keep it in my head and the only way I was capable of sharing it was to (charcoal) sketch it on paper.

Lucky as I was, I had the chance to use my father's rangefinder. As I view the works of Henri Cartier Bresson with the Leica rangefinder, his street images never ceased to inspire me. This made sharing the heart and soul of the streets much easier and more gratifying.

College stirred up the interest further and with another stroke of luck, my sister loaned me her DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera. The stimulus to learn more just kept coming in and workshop after workshop, I have discovered that this was my true passion.

Outgrowing the entry level DSLR's, I had to starve myself to save up for my own camera. Borrowing Mr. Bresson's adage, 'The Decisive Moment', has never been more satisfying as I still walk the streets around the world.

A visual talent at an early age (with watercolor). After winning 2nd place in a high school photography contest, he continued on with the 35mm film camera during his tenure at the University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts (the same university that produced great artists like Ang Kiukok, Botong Francisco and Leandro Victorio Edades).

This interest in storytelling with still photography has even grown into moving film as inspired by works of Woody Allen, Martin Scorcese, Darren Aronofsky, Akira Kurosawa, Richard Linklater and Quentin Tarantino.

This young visionary has a full career ahead of him and many believe that Dan is on his way to realizing Mr. Linklater's ideal.
